Sarah Ernst is the founder of Ernst Law LLC, where she focuses on criminal defense and appellate advocacy across Missouri. She has successfully argued cases in every Missouri appellate district.
Sarah began her legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri, where she handled complex criminal appeals, trained fellow attorneys on extradition law, and completed intensive trial and deposition training.
In private practice, Sarah has represented clients in complex criminal and regulatory matters across Missouri. Her experience includes high-profile criminal investigations and prosecutions, serious homicide cases, and the defense of law enforcement officers facing criminal allegations. She has also represented clients accused of sexual offenses, defended individuals and businesses against allegations of fraudulent business practices brought by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, and represented a client through Missouri’s executive clemency process. Sarah understands that some cases carry consequences far beyond the courtroom and approaches matters involving significant professional, personal, or public scrutiny with discretion, careful preparation, and strategic advocacy.
She has been a member of the Missouri Bar since 2020 and was elected to the Young Lawyers Section Council for District 6 in 2021.
Her leadership and professional accomplishments have earned her recognition as the “Face of Criminal Appeals” in Jefferson City Magazine’s Faces of 573 series. She is also an active member of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce.
Sarah earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Tulsa College of Law and is licensed to practice in Missouri. Based in Jefferson City, she represents clients in criminal defense matters throughout Central Missouri and handles criminal appeals statewide.
Sarah resides in Cole County with her husband, Dallas, and their two sons.
